POKHARA, Feb 2: Defending Champion Nepal Police Club (NPC) entered the semi-finals of the Seventh Aaha Gold Cup Football Tournament beating Nabil Three Star Club 2-0 at the Pokhara Stadium on Monday. [break]
The Police outfit, that got a first-round bye, rode on first half goals to set up a semi-final clash with Belgariya Sporting Club, Kolkata on Wednesday.
Dipen Shrestha, playing his first competitive match in NPC colors after joining from Jawalakhel Youth Club last month, opened scoring in the 13th minute, while star striker Jumanu Rai struck in the 33rd to set up an easy win for NPC.
Chetan Ghimire of NPC was judged the man-of-the-match in the game that piled on the misery for the Patan side also defeated 1-0 at the same stage of the tournament last year by the eventual champion.
