Norbu Sherpa wins Druk Air Open

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Norbu Sherpa scored 40 stable points on Saturday to win the Druk Air Open Golf Tournament at Gokarna Golf Club, Kathmandu.



Sherpa scored 17 points on the front nine and 23 points on the back nine for the win. With the win, Sherpa won return air ticket and 3 nights´ holiday in Bhutan.[break]



Suhrid Ghimire finished in the second position with 35 points on the count back defeating Dibya Amatya and Hridesh Singh. Ghimire had scored 15 on the front and 20 on the back.



Wangchen Dhondup scored 36 gross points to clinch the best gross award. Nam Ok Hee won the ladies´ title with the score of 32 points. Kesang Lama finished second in the ladies´ category.



Joo Sik Choi won the senior category scoring 34 stable ford points while Tenzing Palden was the best junior with the score of 21 points in 9 holes. Sumod Bastakoti won the closest to the pin award while Tashi Tshering won the longest drive award and Wangchen Dhondup won the most birdies in the tournament.



Altogether, 100 golfers took part in the tournament in which five lady golfers and as many junior golfers took part. The tournament was played in stable ford format with 3/4 handicap allowance.



Friendship Inter Club match will be played between 22 players from Bhutan and as many players from Nepal on Sunday.
