Artists and bands will be competing in the 18 categories, ranging from Best New Artist, Folk Record of the Year, Best Composition to Best Vocal Collaboration. The award also celebrates the works and talent of a veteran artist each year by honoring him with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
“We’ve been organizing the awards for 16 years to encourage Nepali artists and Nepali music. Hence, we’re holding it again this year to continue the tradition,” said Mandira Dhungel, station manager of Hits.[break]
She informed that the songs registered in the past year have been chosen as contenders for the 17th edition of the awards. Artists like Kunti Moktan, Shreya Sotang, Ujjwal KC, Nisha Sunar and Mukti and Revival have been nominated in many categories.
The date for the award ceremony has not been fixed yet, and according to Dhungel, it will be announced shortly after confirmation.
