KATHMANDU, Nov 20: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday asked CEO Selection Committee of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) to move ahead with the CEO selection process, stating that there was no need to issue stay order on the issue.

Hikmat Singh Ayer, chief of NTB´s corporate services department, said the verdict has paved the way for the committee to continue its work. [break]

Responding to a petition filed by one Gajendra Sharma, the apex court had summoned members of the committee on Wednesday. Sharma had filed the petition, arguing that committee members were not qualified enough for the selection process.

A joint bench of Chief Justice Khilraj Regmi and Justice Narayan Shrestha issued the verdict.

NTB had formed a three-member committee about a month to select new CEO for NTB. The committee includes NTB board members Dhurba Narayan Shrestha, Ganesh Simkhada and Nimi Sherpa. The committee had shortlisted 12 applicants for the final selection.

The whole process was withheld till Sunday after the case was filed against the committee.
