SURKHET, Oct 19: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the contentious political issues should be put to vote if the political parties represented in the new Constituent Assembly fail to forge consensus on these issues within six months of the November election.

“We should not waste our valuable time to strike consensus on contentious political issues,” said Dahal. He, however, said that the new CA would resolve all the disputed issues of constitution writing. [break]

Speaking to media persons in Surkhet on Saturday, Dahal said, “The new CA would resolve the disputes over the system of governance and state restructuring.” He also claimed that his party has concrete election agendas. “The constitution would resemble the model we have proposed,” he claimed.

On a different note, Dahal said that the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist does not have the right to disrupt the elections. “Disrupting the polls would eventually harm the CPN-Maoist.”
