POKHARA, July 22:  In a bid to curb criminal activities, hoteliers in Pokhara have made it mandatory for internal tourists to produce original identification cards before checking in.

Most of the criminals produce false identification before checking in, so we made it mandatory for them to produce real identification documents, Govinda Raj Pahari, President of Western Region Hotel Association of Pokhara said.

The hoteliers have urged internal tourists to carry office IDs, driving license, student ID, passport, citizenship or any other document of identification for stay in the hotels.

While giving room service, hotels used to check passport of foreign tourists and ask name and address of domestic tourists. “We don´t provide room to the guests who refuse to show their real identification document,” Pahari told Republica.
