NHRC concerned over attack on Alam

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has expressed serious concern over the attack on Bara-based CPN-UML leader Mohammad Alam. Issuing a press statement on Sunday, NHRC has urged the government to punish those involved in the attack. Alam is UML candidate from Bara-4 for the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) elections. Acting secretary of NHRC Bed Prasad Bhattarai said, “The attack on Alam has terrorized both the candidates and the voters.” The commission has also urged the political parties to create environment conducive to elections.[break]
