Addressing a gathering of youths who quit the UML recently in Dharan on Friday, Chemjong said that they will announce formation of new party within next four days. [break]“Progressive group forms the core of the party. This party will be launched before Dashain,” he said.
Chemjong also said they have already settled some of the differences they had with some former Nepali Congress leaders who have joined their fold.
He said that they decided to quit the UML as the party did not want to address the issues related to class and ethnic-identity in the new statute. Arguing that both NC and the UML were not ready to address class-based and identity-based issues, he alleged that both the parties did not have anything in their agenda to address our concerns.
Chemjong also said that new party will adopt the principle of socialism in order to have federalism for the ethnic liberation and liberation of class groups. He also argued that the new party will not just be of indigenous nationalities, but of all ethnic and caste groups in the country.
Chemjong said they will work toward expanding the party´s organization across the country before its formal launch. "Since the issue of liberation of ethnic groups should go along with liberation of the downtrodden, the new party will create an environment where people from all caste, gender and region will have an equal opportunity to participate in it."
