KATHMANDU, Oct 30: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday surged 34.22 points to close at 2,600.38 points.
The market gained double-digit points after undergoing a small correction on the previous day. Overall, the market index surged 1.33 percent.
The secondary market opened at 2,566.16 points and reached the day’s low at 2,548.78 points in the first 27 minutes. In the next moment, the index gradually moved upward and reached as high as 2,605.39 points in the last 49 minutes. The market corrected by around five points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Among 13 trading groups, only mutual funds lost 0.03 points. Of the gainers, life insurance soared 226.60 points whereas non-life insurance and manufacturing and processing gained 188.08 points and 124.21 points respectively.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also added 5.40 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 7.51 billion from Rs 5.45 billion.
Among the individual companies, 216 were gainers while 28 were recorded as losers. Himalayan Bank Ltd Promoter share witnessed the largest turnover of Rs 1.66 billion.
Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited recorded as the topmost gainers by adding 10 percent in their market values. NIBL Stable Fund plummeted by the highest of 5.70 percent.
