The was TET held on January 10 where more than 2.30 lakh candidates appeared and was the first of its kind in the state conducted for the selection of teachers at primary and upper primary schools. Among them, only twenty two thousand (22,000) could clear the TET.[break]

Asom Nepali Sahitya Sabha, a premiere literary organisation of the state and All Assam Gorkha Students´ Union (AAGSU) congratulated Chhetry on his brilliant performance and hoped that the people of Nepali origin living in Assam who fared well up to 70 percent success against the overall poor performance of the state candidates of 15.54 percent only, will be able to show their skills in national level competitive exams such as entrance exam for National Defence Academy, Union Public Service Commission and Joint Entrance Examination conducted for Indian Institute of Technology.
The TET examination result was declared on January 25 last to fill up the posts of teachers for the lower primary and upper primary schools in the state as per the Right To Education (RTE) Act by the state government of Assam.
