Nepal has appointed Jagannath Sharma as liaison officer.
Sharma is the chief of Immigration Office at Kodari. China has also appointed two officials for the same post.
“We decided to appoint liaison officers with the hope that they will be instrumental in resolving the cross-border problems,” Chief District Officer of Sindhupalchowk, Kamal Mani Kafle, told journalists after the meeting.
He said that both countries would resolve the cross-border problems through the liaison officers.
At the meeting, Chinese officials had expressed their concerns over border security and urged Nepalese officials to not allow anti-China activities along the border area. They also urged the Nepali delegation to prevent illegal entry of Tibetans into Nepal.
In response, Nepalese officials assured the Chinese officials that they would take strong actions to deter those involved in illegal activities.
Nepali officials, meanwhile, urged the Chinese officials to check the misbehavior against Nepali people at the border point.
Nepal and China hold security talks every three months. Such a meeting was held in Khasa last time.
