Nepal will also push for opening the new trade routes, development of trade facilitation infrastructure in bordering areas, encouraging banking transactions in bilateral trade and easy visas for Nepal businessmen.
“We are also raising the difficulties faced by Nepali businessmen to get Chinese visa in the aftermath of anti-China uprising in Tibet in 2008,” Silwal said.
Nagindra Prasad Upadhya, Nepali Consular General in Tibet, said talks will be held between Nepali team and senior officials of Department of Commerce of Tibet People´s Government.
A Nepal-Tibet Trade Facilitation Committee was formed in September last year, when China organized Nepal-Tibet Trade Fair in Shigatse. The talks is being held as a part of the understanding the two sides reached during the fair. The committee is assigned to meet every year and address trade concerns to boost bilateral trade.
Officials, however, noted that Nepali goods were facing tough time to retain markets in Tibet mainly as high quality goods from other countries have started to pose stiff competition amid rising living standard of Chinese people.
During the talks, Nepal will also raise the issue of growing trade deficit of the country with the northern trading partner.
