Winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Nepal set UAE a 200-run target and skittled out the opponent for just 50 runs in 20.5 overs.The UAE started its run chase in pretty well manner as skipper Waruna Perera (32 runs off 38 balls) shared a 34-run partnership with opener Zafri Zafrdeen (12 off 24 balls) before the latter was sent to the pavilion by Nepali spinner Sushil in the 7.4 overs.
After that, Nepali spinners tightened the grip over the UAE as the Gulf nation added just 16 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Five of the UAE batsmen failed to open their run account while three scored one run each.
Opener as well as skipper Waruna was the top scorer for the UAE with 32 runs as he smashed a six and three fours. Zafri hit a boundary.
Nepali spinners' disciplined bowling was enough to restrict the UAE for the low total as three spinners shared nine-wickets among them.
Man-of-the-match Sushil bagged four wickets giving away only seven runs in seven overs, that include three maiden-overs.
Similarly, another spinner Sunil Dhamala claimed three wickets in his seven-over spell. Sunil also maintained three maiden-overs as he conceded 12 runs.
Sushil and Sunil claimed the wickets of the top-order and middle-order batsmen, while another spinner PremTamang was at his best as he claimed the last two wickets of the UAE tailenders from five balls without giving away any run.
Earlier, batting first, Nepal was bowled out for 199 runs with four balls to spare in the alotted 50 overs.
Nepal started its innings in a disappointing manner as it lost opener Sunil Dhamala (1) in 1.1 over with only three runs on board. Sandeep Sunar (18 off 30) and Aarif Sheikh (22 off 43) batted patiently to share a 37-run stand for the second wicket. Sandeep hit two fours and Aarif hit three boundaries.
Middle-order batsman Raju came to the rescue as he scored 62 runs off 84 balls that included a six and six boundaries.
Skipper Raju anchored the Nepali innings as he shared 52 runs with Dipendra Singh Airee (20 off 34) for the sixth wicket and added 52 runs with Saurav Khanal (24 off 30) for the seventh wicket. Dipendra hit a six and a four and Saurav smashed three fours.
Dipesh Shrestha remained not out on 12 runs facing 11 balls.
Despite the win, Nepal is in the third position in the points table as Afghanistan and Malaysia also recorded big-margin wins in the round-robin league on Friday.
Afghanistan beat Kuwait by eight wickets to top the table, while host Malaysia thrashed Saudi Arabia by 181 runs.
Afghanistan chased 105 runs in 15.4 overs losing two wickets, while Malaysia restricted Saudi Arabia for 105 runs in 32 overs after posting 286/5 in 50 overs.
