NEC scraps registration of engineering colleges

KATHMANDU, Oct. 7: The Nepal Engineering Council (NEC) has scrapped the registration of two colleges for enrolling double number of students sans council´s nod.



Registration of the Kathford International College of Management at Balkumari in Lalitpur and Janakpur Engineering College at Subidhanagar in Kathmandu would be scrapped for admitting students against the council´s standards, council´s Chairman Saligram Singh said.



Both the colleges were run being affiliated to the Tribhuvan University and were given authority to take admissions of only 48 students each based on the colleges´ infrastructure and library.



So far, 39 colleges have taken licenses from the council to run engineering classes.
