A delegation led by NC Acting President Sushil Koirala expressed this commitment during a meeting held with Prime Minister Nepal at the latter´s official residence in Baluwatar. Prime Minister Nepal is scheduled to fly off to New York to attend the UN 64th General Assembly on Sunday.
Leaders of the two parties have agreed to find alternative ways to resolve the House deadlock. However, they are against the idea of filing resolution motion against President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to be discussed in parliament. They have also agreed to not curtail the powers of the president.
The issue of Maoist protests both in the House and in the streets also figured prominently during the meeting. The prime minister assured the NC leaders that the government was ready to clamp down on anarchic activities of the Maoists.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, NC General Secretary Bimalendra Nidhi said that the NC would support Nepal-led government till a fresh election is held after successfully drafting the new constitution.
