NC asks leaders to return to districts

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: The Nepali Congress (NC) has directed all its district level leaders to return to their respective constituencies to step up preparations for the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election.



Issuing a press statement, NC Chief Secretary Chin Kaji Shrestha instructed district leaders of the party leaders to return to their constituencies. Most of the district leaders of the party are in Kathmandu lobbing for their nomination as the party´s candidate for the polls. [break]



NC had asked district level committees to recommend three names under FPTP and five names for proportional electoral system from each constituency. However, district committees have recommended more names under pressure from district level leaders.



NC has said it has already received nominations from the districts for the election scheduled for November 19. “A meeting of the parliamentary party of NC will soon finalize the candidates,” Shrestha said in the statement.



Also, an informal meeting of the party´s office bearers and central working committee (CWC) members held at the residence of party president Sushil Koirala earlier on Saturday morning also decided to ask all party leaders from the district and village committees to step up election campaign.
