The committee had invited Minister Bogati to acquire information about the agreement regarding the West Seti Hydropower Project signed by the government with the Chinese Company, Three Gorges, on February 29.[break]
The meeting was postponed until March 9 as Minister Bogati was out from Kathmandu valley, according to Chairperson of the Committee Shanta Chaudhary.
State Minister for Energy Suryaman Dong, Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, and the members of the Committee had reached the meeting hall to collect information about the 750 MW project.
The meeting was postponed after the members of the committee demanded Minister Bogati himself to be present at the meeting to provide details of the agreement.
Around Rs 124 billion is estimated for the construction of the project in the present price rate. The project to be constructed on the reservoir basis is estimated to be completed within eight years.
Three Georges has agreed to invest 75 per cent of the total construction cost and the Nepal Electricity Authority will invest the remaining 25 per cent as per the agreement.
