NAC marks 55th establishment day

KATHMANDU, July 1: National flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) on Monday marked its 55th establishment day.Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ram Kumar Shrestha attended the NAC anniversary celebrations. On the occasion, he urged the NAC staff to be serious about the interests of the organization rising above personal interests. [break]



NAC´s future will be determined by the operation of two new aircrafts it is going to purchase in the near future, Minister Shrestha said and urged NAC management to take this challenge as an opportunity of upgrading the organization. On the occasion, he honoured 125 staffs completing their 25 years in service in the Corporation.



Chairman of NAC Board of Directors and Secretary at the Tourism Ministry Sushil Ghimire said it was really a challenge for the Corporation to operate flights for Europe and America. The government has constituted a committee to carry out study on organizational structural changes in the Corporation.



Corporation General Manager Madan Kharel said the process has started to purchase new aircrafts for internal flights with the support from China. Various reformative works are underway within the Corporation, he said.



NAC Employees Association Chairman Tarini Dahal, Employees Union President Raj Kumar Shrestha, Employees Association Chairman Poshak Gyawali, Chairman of Nepal Airlines Pilot Association Madhuban Lal Shrestha and Chairperson of Cabin Crew Association Chitralekha Mishra (Saha) stressed the need of amending laws and regulations related to NAC, stopping unnecessary hiring of staffs and removing 50 years of age limit for air hostesses.



The NAC that was established on Asar 17, 2015 BS is a state-owned agency and is becoming financially weaker. The Employees Provident Fund recently provided a loan of Rs. 10 billion to NAC to purchase two narrow body aircrafts. Besides, the NAC has initiated a process of hiring two others aircrafts.
