Moktan defeated Neeraj Man Sainju of NMB Bank Limited in the first semifinal match to book the final berth. In the best of seven frames match, Moktan won four frames to advance. He registered a comfortable 67-27 win in the first frame but had a close shave in the second as he won by a narrow margin of 50-49.
Sainju bounced back to win the third frame 64-30. Moktan moved closer to victory after winning the fourth frame 62-52.
Sainju didn´t give up and returned for a thumping 85-22 victory in the fifth frame. Moktan required only one frame to win two remaining and he made it in the sixth after struggling 56-53 to wrap up the match.
In another semifinal match, Singh defeated Samraj Gurung of Smart Spaces and Housing Private Limited. Singh took the lead in the first frame with a 48-30 victory.
Gurung won the next two frames -- the first with a comfortable 66-47 win and the next with a narrow margin of 69-64. Singh then won three consecutive frames to seal the match. In the fourth frame, Singh squeezed past his opponent 55-53. In the next frame, Singh registered a 72-48 win and in the last frame he thrashed Gurung 64-23.
Earlier in the day, Singh had defeated Amit Moore of Lucky Group 55-25, 46-39, 25-55, 46-50, 72-23 in the best of five frames during the quarterfinal match. Meanwhile, Gurung had lost the first frame 65-50 against Kabir Jung Thapa of Hotel Radisson but returned to register 61-50, 41-36, 57-28 to seal the match.
The six-day event is being organized by Nepal Republic Media in association with Hotel Radisson. Billiards Snooker & Pool Association of Nepal and Photo Concern are supporting the event while Image Channel and Friday magazine are the media partners.
