Police on Monday submitted a charge sheet at the public prosecutor´s office in the district against Sah and his personal secretary Siyaram Kushwaha accusing the duo of being involved in the murder of Hindu Yuva Sangh chairman Kashinath Tiwari one year ago. [break]
Minister Sah´s supporters staged protests at various places in Parsa and Rautahat districts demanding withdrawal of the charge sheet. They changed slogans against police as they claimed that police were biased against Minister Sah and that the charge against him is baseless.
The protests affected vehicular movement in the districts. The UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Devendra Patel had led the protest in Parsa.
The chief of District Police Office Parsa, SP Ramesh Kharel said Minister Sah was found guilty in the murder of Tiwari on the basis of the statement made by Aman Kushwaha, who was arrested in connection with the murder. Aman had told police that he had shot Tiwari as instructed by Sah. Aman, who was at large following the incident, was arrested by police two months ago.
Tiwari had led a protest demonstration in Parsa against a Maoist "indefinite strike" last year. Minister Sah and five dozen Maoist cadres had a narrow escape when they were attacked by a Tiwari-led mass. Sah and a dozen Maoist cadres were injured in a clash with Hindu Yuva Sangh activists.
