KATHMANDU, June 21: Megh Raj KC on Tuesday turned down the offer from All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) to manage the Nepali U-23 national football team.

ANFA had decided to give the role of the head coach of the Nepali U-23 side to KC on Friday. However KC, who returned to Nepal on Monday from Japan where he attended AFC 'C' coaching license instructor training, informed ANFA that he is unable to accept the offer due to his busy schedule.

Nepali U-23 team is scheduled to play AFC U-23 2018 Qualifiers to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from July 19 to 23 and has already started the preparations.

“I had got offer of head coach of Nepali U-23 side that is going to play AFC U-23 qualifiers but due to busy schedule I couldn't accept the offer,” said KC.

Nepal, which is pitted in Group D of the qualifiers, will face host UAE, Uzbekistan and Lebanon.

Meanwhile ANFA's CEO Indra Man Tuladhar talking to Republica, confirmed that KC turned down the offer. “KC informed that he was not accepting our offer due to busy schedule. We were ready to sign the contract with him but he notified us that he is unable to take the charge,” said Tuladhar.

Meanwhile, Tuladhar also informed that Raju Kaji Shakya is likely to take charge of the team. “We still haven't made any formal offer but we will do it on Wednesday,” added Tuldhar. Raju Kaji Shakya is currently assisting the national team head coach Gyotoku Koji. Prakash Aryal will be Shakya's assistant, according to Tuladhar.

On the same occasion, Tuladhar  also informed that Nepal U-23 side is likely to play a friendly against Bangladesh U-23 as preparation  for the qualifiers. “We are in talks with Bangladesh over playing a friendly match in Kathmandu. We could host them between July 10 to 13 but still there are some homework to be done.”
