Amidst the incessant media attention and the constant questions, these girls have befriended each other and also share a common dream. “We have to perform at the international pageants,” they echo. [break]
“We have to make a difference in Nepal first,” opined Shristi who alongside being declared the main title holder bagged ‘Miss Confident’ and her mate Nagma was declared ‘Miss Beautiful Smile’ too.

“Our eyes are red due to lack of sleep,” shared Miss Nepal as she helped her fellow contestants with eye drops. She also confessed to have practiced her reaction on being announced the winner every day before the finale. “It gave me confidence on the final day,” she says giggling.
“Whatever little I slept, I dreamed of the crowning moment,” burst out Nagma and all three nodded with a smile. Young, fresh and strong headed the ladies shared a brief moment with Republica. Excerpts:
Share with us a little about yourself.
Shristi: I am currently a nursing student at London. I had to take a break to participate in Miss Nepal and I am happy I made the choice. I have been living in London for the past eight years and my family home is in Bandipur in Tanahu. I would like to believe that, I take life on a positive stride and therefore remain unaffected by negativity without ignoring it altogether. I am looking ahead to a busy year, where I can travel to remote places of the country and create awareness on various issues.
Nagma: I am a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) third semester student. I have always been fascinated by the media and therefore worked as a program host for Image Channel. I am a go-with-the-flow kind of a person and therefore, hardly make concrete plans about anything. I hope to establish myself as a media entrepreneur some day.
Subekshya: I am a management student too. I am in my first semester of BBA. I hope to make a career out of banking. I think I am too young to have made plans about life and therefore can’t say anything for sure as to what my future aspirations are. As of now I am willing to try out everything, I am willing to make mistakes and learn from them.
How does it feel to have the crown?
Shristi: I feel responsible. You realize how heavy the crown is only after you have it on your head.
Nagma: It feels great, I feel great. I have hardly been this happy in life.
Subekshya: It feels amazing and I wish I could describe the feeling in words. I feel lucky to have won and proud too.
Tell us what quality in you made you win?
Shristi: I think the judges saw in me a possibility, they recognized the fact that I am a dedicated person with the zeal to win.
Nagma: I think I have the strongest will power. If I set my mind on doing something, there’s nothing that can prevent me. That quality must have come across to the judges while I stood on stage. Another quality I think I have is that of stage presence.
Subekshya: I believe the luck factor is as important as any other aspect that determines your win. In the past we have seen many deserving candidates lose owing to the luck factor. I had the luck and alongside I was real, I had style but no pretensions.
These three winners will represent Nepal in three international contests, while Shristi Shrestha will represent Nepal at Miss World 2012 to be held in Ordos, Inner Mongolia on 18th August, 2012 Nagma Shrestha will participate at the Miss Earth scheduled for October 28, 2012 in Indonesia.
Subekshya Khadka is to participate at the Miss International 2012, in Okinawa, Japan on September 29.
