KATHMANDU, Nov 27: The UCPN-Maoist on Friday on Friday denied reports that party chairman Pushpakamal Dahal and Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala had not reached any agreement on toppling the government and they had instead agreed to form a high-level political mechanism to pursue consensus and end current political deadlock. Organizing a press conference at its party headquarters on Friday, the Maoist party said the duo had held discussions for 15 minutes in Singapore and they had not talked anything about changing the government.

Moist leader and Chief of Foreign Department Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who had accompanied Dahal to Singapore, claimed that the news reports regarding the duo´s agreement to change the government was completely wrong.

"There was no secret deal between the two leaders in Singapore to change the government. The news reports are baseless and biased," he said.

Mahara made it clear that Dahal and Koirala had talked about forming a high-level political mechanism to end the ongoing political stalemate.

Dahal had reached Singapore to meet Koirala who was being treated there.

The Maoist clarification came after some media reported that the two key figures had reached a secret deal to topple the present coalition.

Mahara further said that nobody, including the Indian analyst SD Muni, had arranged the meeting. "We have heard that the false reports are being published on the basis of e-mail leakages through forged IDs," Mahara said, adding, "Our party has been investigating the e-mail and the false news reports."
