DHANGADHI, Nov 27: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Friday accused the UCPN-Maoist of obstructing the process of integration and rehabilitation of its combatants. He also ruled out the possibility of peace process culminating in a positive outcome unless the Maoist combatants are integrated and rehabilitated.

Inaugurating the 13th general assembly of the Association of Construction Entrepreneurs in the district headquarters on Friday, PM Nepal said, “We must manage, integrate and rehabilitate the combatants if the peace process is to move ahead in a positive direction.”

Stating that the integration and rehabilitation of the combatants had become “everyone´s problem” and not only the Maoists, the prime minister maintained that the party that runs on the strength of its combatants can never be a people´s party. He revealed that the government has been spending two billion rupees annually for the upkeep of the combatants.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the speech and conduct of Maoist leaders and cadres, PM Nepal said, “The Maoists say one thing do quite another.” He warned that the Maoists would be held responsible if the task of constitution writing is not completed on time.

PM Nepal had entered the venue braving Maoist demonstrations.
