The meeting held at the UML’s parliamentary party office at Singha Durbar also realized a necessity for yet another accord between the parties on the basis of the 12-point agreement reached in November 2005, according to our correspondent Kosh Raj Koirala.
The 2005 agreement had paved the way for parties to fight against the direct rule of King Gyanendra, peace process and the election of the Constituent Assembly.
The meeting also formed two separate committees, according to our correspondent Ghanashyam Ojha. The first committee comprises Maoist leader Dev Prasad Gurung and UML leader Bhim Rawal while the second committee comprises Maoist leader and Finance Minister Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai and UML leader and Water Resources Minister Bishnu Poudel.
The Gurung-Rawal committee will review the implementation of past agreements between the two parties while the second committee will prepare report on financial availability of the government to deal with power crisis.
Both the committees have been given Sunday as the deadline to present their respective reports. Both the parties are meeting again on Sunday to study the reports. CPN-UML is expected to take a crucial decision on its position to continue to be in the government after the Sunday meeting between the two parties.
