Maoists in pickup pose as Nagarik staffers

KATHMANDU, May 7:  Police arrested Maoist cadres who were using a Tata pickup truck (Ba 5 Cha 343) by putting a banner of Nagarik daily newspaper.



The Maoists also posed themselves as staffers of the newspaper working for distribution of Nagarik daily.[break]



Police said they were nabbed at 7 am from Singhadurbar area while they were ferrying around 30 Maoist cadres in the vehicle to use them to disrupt peace rally at several places in Kathmandu.



Binod Manandhar from Pipalmadhi of Sindhuli district was driving the vehicle at the time.



Police arrested them along with the vehicle when they found that the vehicle was not owned by Nepal Republic Media Pvt Ltd after inquiring at the publication´s head office in Sundhara.



The Maoists were detained for investigation at Metropolitan Police Sector Office at Singhadurbar. Police released them in the evening.
