Maoists for Speaker's prerogative to annul PM poll

KATHMANDU, Nov 3: A secretariat meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) on Wednesday emphasized the need to annul the ongoing prime ministerial election procedure and form a new government amending the interim constitution.



The meeting of office bearers the party held at the at party’s headquarter in Paris Danda also decided to ask the Speaker to use his prerogative to annul the futile election.[break]



The meeting discussed on the current political deadlock, budget, appointment of chiefs and members of various constitutional bodies and formation of new government.



“Formation of the new government is appropriate to bail the country out from from current deadlock” said Maoist leader Dev Gurung after the meeting. “So, the ongoing prime ministerial election must be annulled soon by any means.”



Legislature-Parliament has already voted for 15th time to elect new prime minister. But all these rounds of voting have failed to yield any results as the Maoists, CPN-UML and Madhes-based parties have remained neutral in the voting.



Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel is lone prime ministerial candidate in the fray.



Gurung said that that the new government will table the budget, appoint chiefs and members of constitutional bodies and accomplish the tasks of concluding peace process and drafting new constitution.
