Maoist victims submit memo to PM

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: Maoist victims on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the prime minister demanding that the government meet their 20-point demand.

The Maoist victims have asked the government to declare all those killed at the hand of Maoist martyrs, provide compensation and employment opportunity to the victims´ family and help trace whereabouts of those missing since Maoist war period, among other things.

Altogether 5,415 civilians were killed at the hand of the Maoist during their ´people´s war.´ “The prime minister said he is positive about our demands,” said the Secretary of the Maoist Victims´ Association Birbal Rai.
