A group of around 20 combatants entered the village at around four Friday afternoon and thrashed around half-a-dozen youths, including Hemanta Buda Magar, Dil Bahadur Tarami and Amar Gharti. [break]
The combatants attacked the youths for retaliating against a combatant who misbehaved with a woman Thursday midnight.
Similarly, the locals had tied another combatant, who had misbehaved with a woman in Kailashpur Wednesday night, and handed him over to the camp.
“One Pahad from the Talband Camp had misbehaved with my aunt who lives at Balidan Bazaar near the camp Wednesday night.
They beat me as I had retaliated that night,” said Buda Magar who has sustained head and neck injuries. Buda Magar said Pahad had tried to misbehave with another woman in Indrapur that evening.
The locals have protested the attack demanding action against the combatants. Locals obstructed three vehicles going to the Maoist camp Friday evening.
The camp authorities, however, claimed that it was just a minor scuffle between local youths and a couple of combatants and efforts are on to settle the matter locally.
