Many world records in Shanghai Expo 2010

SHANGHAI, Oct 30: Shanghai World Expo 2010 has seen the participation of 190 countries and 57 global organizations as of today and set a few world records as of Saturday, one day before the final day.

"This is the biggest participation in 150 years of history after the first expo held in London in 1851," said Binayak Shah, Director of Nepal Pavilion at Shanghai Expo.[break]

The number of people visiting Shanghai Expo that started six months ago has also set a new world record as more than 72,600,000 visitors have already visited the expo venue till Friday. In Osaka Expo held in 1970, 64,000,000 visitors had participated.

The venue is also the biggest in terms of expo area in the history with Shanghai Expo spreading in 5.28 square meters.

Similarly on Oct. 16, as many as 1,032,000 people visited the expo on a single day, setting another world record, according to the official website of Shanghai Expo.

Nepal´s pavilion is also the biggest pavilion as of now, claimed Shah. More than 7,500,000 people have already visited Nepal Pavilion. During the expo held in 2000 in Germany, 3,500,000 had visited Nepal Pavilion.

According to Shah, Nepal started participating in world expo since 1970.
