Man held for poaching deer

MAHENDRANAGAR, Jan 26: District Forest Office, Darchula Sunday evening arrested Bishan Lohar of Khalanga VDC-2 of the district along with a country-made gun on charge of killing a barking deer.



Ramesh Chand, district forest officer in Darchula, told myrepublica.com that Lohar, 40, was arrested while he was hiding in his house after killing a deer at a nearby forest. Chand said Lohar was arrested along with two kilograms of meat and the gun. Lohar had sold some of the deer meat to villagers, according to Chand. DFO can arrest, prosecute and punish anyone involved in poaching.
