Mahatma Gandhi Memorial 2011 concludes

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: At an prize distribution event organized by the Embassy of India in Nepal on November 19, the winners of various competitive programs were awarded.



The competitive events were organized by ten reputed schools from Kathmandu under the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial which started in 2009. [break]



The ceremony took place in Nepal Police Club.



Kendriya Vidyalaya, Rupy’s International, Alok Vidya Ashram, DAV School, National Police Academy, Triyog H.S School, Rai School, Modern Indian School, Budhanilkantha School and Chandbagh School participated in this year’s Mahatma Gandhi Memorial which commenced in April 2011.



Each school hosted a different event from a total of 13 events that included several sports, literature and leisure related competitions.







“These series of events were aimed at providing the students a forum for interaction and also personality development. We started in 2009 with debate but now we are proud to be able to incorporate various other activities”, stated the Chief Guest of the event Jaideep Mazumdar, Charge of Department of Affairs, Embassy of India.



Several Kollywood personalities such as Karishma Manandhar, Sanyukta Timalsina and Nalina Chitrakar attended the event.



One of the main highlights of the event was the concert given by Hemant Brijwasi, winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Little Champ, 2009.
