KATHMANDU, April 1: Laxmi Bank, which started service in 2002 as a Birgunj-based regional bank and upgraded to a national level bank in 2005, entered 13th year of operation on Wednesday. Issuing a statement, the bank said it operates with a network of 40 branch offices and 50 ATM terminals.

"Laxmi Bank has emerged as a major player across all business lines -- retail, mid market, corporate and treasury," the statement said adding that it is recognized as one of the best managed banks in Nepal with high standards of corporate governance, risk management systems and strong technology.
The bank currently has a balance sheet of Rs 39 billion and has aggressive capital plans to increase the paid-up capital to Rs 5 billion, according to the statement.
