Lama, who scored 35 stableford points, was drawn with amateurs Bina Thapa (38), Sanker Baniya (36) and Rajan Thapa (27) for a total of 136 points.[break]
The team of pro Dhana Thapa, who earned 33 points, and amateurs Basant Gauchan (37), Gajendra Limbu (33) and Ambika Rana (32) finished second with a total of 135 points. The team of pro Mani Rai (32) and amateurs Tashi Ghale (27), LP Gurung (35) and Ganga Bahadur Gurung (37) finished third with the total score of 131 points.
Rahul Agrawal won the best individual score with 30 points, while Bina Thapa was the best lady golfer with the score of 38 points.
Ambika Rana won the closest to the pin award and Nepal Professional Golfers Association (NPGA) President Rabindra Man Shrestha received the award for the longest drive. Pros of the top three teams got Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 resepectively, while the amateurs were awarded with trophies.
The top 8 pro and top 24 amateur scores were put into draw and the highest totaling team of one pro and three amateurs was declared the winner.
In all, 68 golfers including two ladies participated in the Pro-Am event.
NPGA President Shrestha, Nepal Golf Association General Secretary Tashi Ghale, Kaski District Golf Association President Lachhim Prasad Gurung, and Brand Officer of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd Rajat Thapa gave away the prizes to the winners.
The main event of the Western Open Golf Tournament, the second tournament under the Surya Nepal NPGA Golf Tour 2012-2013, will tee off on Sunday. Altogether 48 golfers, 23 professionals and 25 amateurs, are all set to participate in the 54 holes event.
The winner of the event, organized by NPGA and sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, will get Rs 88,000 while runner-up will bag Rs 57,000 and the third place winner will get Rs 40,700.
Nepal No 1 Shiva Ram Shrestha is the defending champion of the Western Open. Shrestha had won the Western Open last season with a score of one-under 218 and the RNGC pro became the first golfer to win the Western Open title with under-par score.
The Himalayan Golf Course, Pokhara is considered as the toughest golf course of the country.
