Labor exports up 40 percent

KATHMANDU, Sept 2: Nepal´s labor export increased by 40 percent during the month ending mid-August - the first month of fiscal year 2013/134, compared to figures recorded in the same period last year.



Data compiled by the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) shows a total of 45,937 Nepali job seekers, including 2,909 female, flew to international labor markets during the review month. The number was 32,685 during the corresponding month last year. [break]



Of them, 39,048 job-seekers managed to get jobs through recruiting agencies while remaining 6,889 used individual channel to land the job.

Malaysia became the most popular job market during the Nepal, receiving 16,363 Nepali workers during the month. Similarly, Qatar and Saudi Arabia stood in the second and third position, welcoming 8,822 and 7,682 workers, respectively. The United Arab Emirates, which received 4,754 workers, was the fourth popular job market for Nepali workers during the review month.
