KU wins inaugural match

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Host Kathmandu University (KU) won the inaugural match of the First KU Cup T20 Cricket Tournament on Sunday. KU defeated National College for Development Studies (NCDS) by 129 runs at the KU Ground, Dhulikhel.



Electing to bat first, KU put up 198/3 in allotted 20 overs as Ankit Paudyal scored 79 runs off 54 balls. Pragyesh Dhungel added 33 runs off 23 balls and Krishna Basnet struck 32 off 18 balls. Ayush Gorkhali claimed two wickets for NCDS.[break]



Chasing the 199-run target, NCDS was all out in 17.2 overs with 69 runs on the board. Amber Singh Thapa was the highest scorer for NCDS with 35 runs. Raunak Pandey and Krishna Basnet took two wickets each for the KU. Ankit Paudel was adjudged man-of-the-match for his brilliant batting.



Meanwhile, Nepal College of Management (NCM) defeated Kantipur Dental College (KDC) by 81 runs in the second match of the day.



Electing to bat, NCM put up 145/3 in the match reduced to 15 overs-a-side as man-of-the-match Pankaj Neupane scored 55 runs off 47 balls. In reply, KDC could reach only 64/7 in 15 overs. Ashish Gimire and Suresh Khatri claimed two wickets each.
