The administration had conducted written examinations on December 6, 2008, for a vacancy of seven nurses and five ANMs and published results on Monday. More than 25 nurses and ANMs donning black armbands demanded cancellation of the results claiming irregularities.
The lockout has stopped interviews that were scheduled to be taken on Thursday. The administration had planned to shift the interview to the private residence of the hospital superintendent Dr CP Upadhyaya but it was canceled after the staff padlocked Upadhyaya´s residence, too.
The agitating staff have accused the administration of nepotism and favoritism in the publication of results. ANM Gyanu Gautam claimed that maternity ward in-charge Kamala Rai unfairly got her niece Bhawana Rai passed. "Everybody from doctors and administration to accounts staff have unfairly got their relatives passed in the exams," Gautam claimed.
Upadhyaya, however, denied the allegations and said there was no irregularity and the candidates passed the exams on their own strength.
The agitators, however, allowed operation of outpatient department and the emergency services.
