Speaking at a Reporters Club Nepal program, the NC leader said Koirala will take charge of the government as party leaders Sher Bahadur Deuba and Ram Chandra Paudel, the two contenders from the party, have failed to agree on the PM candidate between them. [break]
He also stressed on early consensus, warning that the current stalemate continues, the existence of political parties and leaders would be at risk.
In contrast, UCPN (Maoist) politburo member Haribol Gajurel , addressing the same program, claimed that the consensus government would be led by his party’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Stating that the issue of government leadership has remained the major hurdle in forging consensus, Gajurel made it clear that the idea of NC leading the government would not be acceptable to his party.
