Jhapa floods claim 7 lives

BHADRAPUR, Aug 25: Seven persons died, one has gone missing and property worth Rs 1 billion in the floods that wreaked Jhapa district last week, according to a preliminary report. More than 180 families have been displaced and the floods damaged many houses, the report said.



Assistant Chief District Officer Lekhnath Pokharel said that 6,265 flood displaced have been taking shelter in 50 camps. While 415 houses were completely damaged by floods, 418 houses have been partially ravaged.
