KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Budhanilakantha municipality has initiated a bid to enlist the Budhanilakantha Temple in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The municipality launched a discussion on formally including the Budhanilakantha statue and temple area in the World Heritage Site. The huge statue of Lord Bishnu—a stone carving—was established in the era of Bishnu Gupta, in the second century.
Discussion among government bodies, historians, culture experts, intellects, writers, and journalists was held. Such an event would continue in the days ahead.
On the occasion, Prof Dinesh Raj Pant, theologian Dr Govinda Tandan, Chancellor at Nepal Bhasa Academy Malla K Sundar, Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts Narad Mani Hartamchhali, and writers and journalists- Sneha Sayami, Shyam Rimal and Shreesh Bhandari, among others reminded Budhanilakantha municipality to provide adequate evidence on architecture on the temple by specializing the assets.
The local level was further suggested to study the natural aspect of the Shivapuri-Budhanilakantha area.
