Earlier, 100,000 tarpaulins donated by Mamata Benjarni, chief minister of West Bengal to the relief process, arrived through Kakarvitta of Jhapa district.
Nepal is coordinating with India for more aid, said Chandra Kumar Ghimire, Calcutta based Consulate General of Nepal. According to him, a high-level team consisting of Minister for North Bengal Development Goutam Deb and Suresh Kumar of Disaster Management Department is travelling with the consignment.The consignment is said to include 5,000 blankets, 9,000 metric tons of beaten rice, and 1,000 metric tons of children food, along with the tarpaulins.
According to Ghimire, an agreement was reached with the government of Nepal to use 29 trucks to bring the relief materials into the country as well as to distribute it.
"We are yet to receive directives telling us where to distribute materials and in which quantity," said Keshav Raj Ghimire, Chief District Authority of Parsa district. "It would be beneficial if the relief could be distributed promptly to the districts in need," he added.
According to CDO Ghimire, Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing a team under the leadership of a minister to coordinate with the teams from India.
