KATHMANDU, Oct 31: The Indian government has sealed the Raxaul trade point at the Nepal-India border for 48 hours as a counter measure against any possible criminal activities during the fourth round of voting under the Legislative Assembly election of Indian northern state of Bihar.

The voting will take place on Sunday for 49 seats which includes Motihari, Mujafarpur, Sitamadhi, Betiyar among other areas in Bihar. The Indian security forces at the border have said the trade point would be opened from Monday morning once the election concludes.

The transportation to and from India and Nepal at the border point has been prohibited allowing only those travelling on foot make the journey. Security has been beefed up in the area to thwart possible untoward activities.

The barrier at the Birgunj customs point has also been shuttered in view of election. The southern tips of Nepal's Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Sarlahi and Nawalparasi districts adjoining India have also been sealed for 48 hours, according to Indian security forces. RSS
