The demand for Dio has increased by almost 60 percent over the last three months. Until a few months back, Syakar used to import only about 400 Dio scooters a month. But the company increased its imports by 50 percent to 600 in February. It increased by imports by another 200 in March to 800. The company hasn´t been able to supply Dio scooters as demanded due to increasing demands in the market.

“Even after increasing imports, we are managing to supply only 50 percent of the total demand,” said Rajan R Puri, import and sales administration manager at Syakar, adding, “Dio has remained the first choice of young people for personal vehicle. Those who need family scooter go for Aviator or Activa.”

Puri said Dio has become popular among youths in Nepal as the manufacturer is very serious about the quality and technical aspects of the scooter. “We haven´t recorded any complaint about this two-wheeler as it has refined engine,” Puri said, adding that the Dio has a fantastic performance plus a slim and attractive body.

He further added that they need to place order for increase in imports beforehand as there have been increasing demand for Dio not only in Nepal but all the markets where the scooter is being exported.

Dio was initially priced Rs 133,900 in Nepal. But the price has been revised to Rs 135,900 now. Dio has a 102 CC engine and gives a mileage of 40-45 km per liter.
