KATHMANDU, August 31: The suspended Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana has said that the impeachment motion filed against him in parliament had already become inactive.

Rana also said that he decided to be present before the Impeachment Recommendation Committee to record his statement only to respect the parliament.

Rana claimed that parliament had failed to abide by constitution and parliamentary regulations in the impeachment motion filed against him. “This motion has already become inactive,” he claimed.

Rana alleged that the impeachment motion filed against him was a part of a conspiracy to make the second-most senior justice at the Supreme Court as the new chief justice. He added that parliament had tried to weaken the country’s judiciary by filing impeachment motions without any wrong doings.
