Parliament Secretariat’s letter saying impeachment motion against CJ Rana is inactive is unconstitutional: NBA

KATHMANDU, Dec 7: Nepal Bar Association (NBA) President Gopal Krishna Ghimire has claimed that it is unconstitutional on the part of the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Bharatraj Gautam, to issue a letter saying the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana had become inactive.

KATHMANDU, Dec 7: Nepal Bar Association (NBA) President Gopal Krishna Ghimire has claimed that it is unconstitutional on the part of the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Bharatraj Gautam, to issue a letter saying the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana had become inactive.


"It is not legal for the Secretary General of the Federal Parliament to issue a letter that the impeachment motion against Rana is inactive. It is unconstitutional," Ghimire said. "We do not accept this."

General Secretary Gautam has sent a letter to the President's Office, the Prime Minister's Office, the Office of the Council of Ministers, the Constitutional Council, the Supreme Court, the Judicial Council and CJ Rana that the impeachment motion against him had become inactive.
