KATHMANDU, May 14: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday said his party would not continue the street protests and obstructions in the parliament. “I am not in favor of prolonging the obstructions and protests,” said Dahal, speaking at a book-launching program at Janasanchar Abhiyan´s office in Anamnagar. “The parliament meeting will start running smoothly soon.”

He said the only motive of the Maoists´ protests against the President´s move was to take the issue to common Nepalis and it was almost achieved, according to Dahal. “The protests were against the tendency of pushing the country back to conflict by demeaning the achievement of the decade-long People´s War and the people´s movement,” said Dahal.

“We still want to go hand in hand with all the political parties to consolidate what we have achieved so far,” said Dahal. “But other parties have started indulging in the political game as they were playing while monarchy was in existence,” said Dahal.
