Zahir Ansari, 60, a resident of Pokhariya Tol, Gaur-5, was found dead on Monday morning with cut marks in his throat.
Ansari's relatives said that he was killed by one Parvez Ansari of Sapagadha, Gaur-10, whom the family had allowed to spend the night at their home.
Parvez, who addressed Ansari as uncle, had requested that he be allowed to spend the night at their home as condition was not favorable in Gaur in view of the skirmishes between the police and the locals.
According to Ansari's wife, the duo had slept in the same room at her home after she went to sleep at her son's house nearby.
She informed that she found the door of her house open in the morning and when she entered the house, she found her husband with a slit throat and Rs 5,00,000 stolen.
“At around 9 pm Pravez came and said that he was returning home from India and it was very late for him to go further given the tense situation in the area,” said Ansari's wife, adding, “Both of them slept in the same bed in our room but when I entered the room in the morning Zahir was already dead and Pravez was not there. Parvez even looted the money that my son had sent from overseas.”
The relatives assume that the murder took place with the sole intention to rob the money the Ansari couple had received from their son, who is working overseas.
Ansari's body has been sent to the district hospital in Gaur for post mortem.
DSP Sudhir Raj Sharma said a police investigation is on to ascertain the reason behind the murder. He informed that the police has started a manhunt to nab Parvez, who has been absconding after the incident.
