Heman Gurung, former captain of Nepali U-16 team, scored the lone goal of the match in the 70th minute. He received a pass from Ganesh Khadka and scored from a long range to stun last edition´s runner-up Sahara.[break]
Sahara defender Man Bahadur Tamang cleared a shot from Dhiraj Tamang in Rupesh KC´s pass in the eighth minute of the match. Likewise, Tika Ram Karki, on loan from Nepal Police Club, intercepted another attempt by Tamang in the 36th minute. Sahara goalkeeper Bishal Shrestha blocked a header from Himalayan Sherpa´s African recruit Hope Rally in the second half. Ganesh Khadka wasted a scoring chance in the 65th minute.
Meanwhile, Sahara´s Hem Tamang wasted a chance each in either half. Umesh Thapa had a chance to level the scores in the 85th minute but the Sahara player shot wide.
Heman Gurung was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
Himalayan Sherpa will take on CMG Sankata Club in the semifinal.
On Wednesday, Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club will lock horns with NMB Machhindra Club in the first semifinal of the tournament.
