Him Shikhar storms into semifinal

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: Him Shikhar English School of Sunsari became the first team to secure semifinal berth in the boy´s section in the ongoing Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school Football Tournament being held at the Chyasal ground, Kathmandu.



In course of securing semifinal place Him Shikhar achieved second victory in a row defeating Siddharth Vanasthali of Kathmandu 3-1 and topped group D. [break]Umesh Rai netted twice for Him Shikhar with goals coming in the 28th and 53rd minute. Khem Raj Tamang added another for the winning side during stoppage time. Muskan Lama netted for Siddhartha Vanasthali in the 31st minute.



In the day´s kick off match, Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya of Bhaktapur thumped Deep Jyoti Vidhyasram of Banke 5-0. Sansar Gurung and Sanjiv Rana Magar scored two goals apiece for the winning team after Ranjit Maharjan had given the early lead.



Path Finder of Kathmandu edged past Nepal Adarsha Awasiya High School of Kaski 3-2. Pawan Rai, Yusuf Rai and Sudhakar Neupane hit target for Path Finder. Nishat Pun netted both the goals for Nepal Adarsha.



Gyanodaya School of Kathmandu thrashed Siddhartha Boarding School of Siddharthanagar 8-1. Roshan Shrestha got four goals for the winning side while Ashok Jagebu completed a hat-trick. Rohit Gurung also scored for the winning team. Sagar Paudel got the consolation for Siddhartha Boarding School.



In the girl´s section held at the Satdobato ground, Deep Jyoti Vidhyasram of Banke, Tops Higher Secondary School of Pokhara and JP High School of Kathmandu registered victories.



Deep Jyoti edged past Nandi High School of Kathmandu 3-0 with two goals coming from Nirmala Upadhyaya. Puja Rana was also on target for the winning team. In another match, Tops defeatd Bal Bikash Higher Secondary School of Nawalparasi 3-1. Bimala Chaudhary hit the target twice after Sushmita Nepali had opened scoring for Tops. Jyoti Neupane pulled one back for Bal Bikash.



In the last match played under girl´s section, JP High School overcame Kanara Higher Secondary School 3-1. Anjali Thing, Sunita Khadka and Reshma Tamang scored one goals each for JP. Sangina Chaudhary netted consolation for Kanara.
