Skipper Jamuna Gurung and Anu Lama netted four goals apiece in Nepali team´s widest-margin victory ever in international football. [break]Sajana Rana and Pramila Rai scored two goals each, while another goal came from Laxmi Paudel.
Nepal´s previous biggest victory was the 8-0 win over Sri Lanka during the 11th South Asian Games held in Dhaka, Bangladesh early this year. On the occasion, Nepal had bagged silver after losing 3-1 to India in the final.
This is also the first occasion that two Nepali footballers have scored four goals each in a single match. Lama had completed a hat-trick and Gurung had scored a brace in Nepal´s 6-0 demolition of the Maldives in their first group match on Sunday.
In a lopsided affair on Tuesday, Nepal scored seven goals before the interval. Lama, who gave an early fourth minute lead to Nepal, scored all four goals during the first half. She scored her second goal in the 27th minute and completed her hat-trick 10 minutes later. Her fourth goal came in the first minute of stoppage time.
Gurung scored her first goal in the 11th minute through penalty and added three more during the second half. She scored her second goal five minutes after the interval, completed a hat-trick two minutes later and netted her fourth in the 69th minute.
Rana scored in the 9th and 54th minutes, while Rai netted in the 41st and 82nd minutes. Paudel scored in the 74th minute.
In the other match of the same group, Pakistan beat the Maldives 2-1 to open their account in the points table with three points. Nepal currently lead the group with six points, while the Maldives and Afghanistan are still without a point.
Nepal will play their last group match, against Pakistan, on Saturday.
